According to Vietnamese media Cand on November 7, Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dian said that the ministry is formulating an e-cigarette management plan. There are currently two proposals recommending that Vietnam promulgate pilot management policies for e-cigarettes and heated tobacco.

Nguyen Hong Dian said that an e-cigarette management plan is being constructed, and the department is cooperating with all parties, especially the Ministry of Health, to review and unify perspectives and improve management policies.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to include the product within the regulatory scope of tobacco companies and submit the proposal to the Prime Minister in the fourth quarter of 2023.

"The Ministry of Health's position is to ban this type, but the Ministry of Justice believes it is necessary to study the regulations and incorporate them into the tobacco business decree." Nguyen Hong Dien said.

It is reported that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam is formulating a management plan, which is "close" to the Ministry of Health's prohibition recommendations and will be submitted to the Prime Minister in accordance with the Constitution, Investment Law and relevant units.
